OUR STORY

Bayan is a tribute to Taiwan’s Terroir. The name comes from the chinese for Passion Fruit (百香果 Bai Xiang Guo) and sun (太陽 Tai Yang). Bayan “百陽”, literally means a hundred suns. And that’s what it meant to capture, a tropical taste of sunshine in a bottle.
Our Passion Fruit Flower logo is actually a homage to the Sun on the Taiwanese Flag.

CONCEPTION

As long-term expatriates in Taiwan, we came to love the plethora of tropical fruits the island of beauty has to offer. With our natural inclination toward all kinds of delicious libations, we wanted our favorite tropical fruits to be available in a liqueur format we could enjoy year-round. That’s how BAYAN came to be. And after some trial and error, we chose a pulp-based fruit liqueur style to maximize flavor and preserve as much of that taste of sunshine as possible.

Bay – relates to word Bai Xiang Guo (百香果) which means Passion Fruit. The first character “百” direct translation means ‘100’. Direct translation of ‘Bai Xiang Guo’ is ‘100 Scents Fruit’

Yan – relates to word Tai Yang (太陽) which means Sun.

The official Chinese name is thus 百陽, one hundred Suns
